Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam have unveiled Calvin Bassey as their new signing following the completion of his medials and other details.
The deal taking the Nigeria defender from Scottish giants, Rangers to Dutch giants, Ajax was confirmed last week but now made official today.
Calvin Bassey joined Ajax on a record fee of €26.5m according to the statement released by the Dutch club.
The €26.5m is the highest ever signing fee received Rangers, and the highest ever paid by Ajax for a defender – it is also the highest paid for any Nigerian defender.
Calvin Bassey who has since joined Ajax Austrian camp will wear jersey number 33.
Bassey signed a five-year contract with Ajax as he becomes just another Nigerian player to play for the historic club after the likes of Finidi George, Kanu Nwankwo, Sunday Oliseh, Tijani Babginda.
