Ajibade, Oshoala Lead Super Falcons Squad for Senegal Friendlies
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced a 23-player Super Falcons squad for next month’s international friendly matches against Senegal.
The two matches are part of Nigeria’s preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The Super Falcons will face Senegal on June 5 before meeting them again three days later.
Head coach Justine Madugu has selected a strong squad led by captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and experienced striker Asisat Oshoala.
Several players who enjoyed good seasons with their clubs have been included. Nottingham Forest forward Joy Omewa keeps her place in the squad, while Everton midfielder Toni Payne and Galatasaray defender Tosin Demehin are also among those selected.
Defender Rofiat Imuran returns to the national team, while Belarus-based forward Blessing Nkor has also been recalled.
Madugu has handed recalls to experienced midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene and forwards Francisca Ordega and Gift Monday. Turkey-based midfielder Kafayat Shittu has also been included as she looks to make an impact with the senior national team.
Home-based goalkeeper Anderline Mgbechi and Israel-based defender Sikiratu Isah are also part of the squad. Midfielders Halimatu Ayinde and Jennifer Echegini have been selected, alongside forwards Folashade Ijamilusi and Omorinsola Babajide.
The squad also includes Christy Ucheibe, Shukurat Oladipo and Rinsola Babajide, who recently won league titles with their clubs.
The Super Falcons will host Senegal at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne. The matches will give Madugu another opportunity to assess his players ahead of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria, the most successful team in the history of the competition with 10 titles, have been drawn in Group C alongside Egypt, Zambia and Malawi.
The tournament will take place from July 25 to August 16, with the Super Falcons aiming to win back the continental title.
