Akepyi to start as Rohr set to experiment a new formation against Argentina
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has restored Daniel Akpeyi in goal as Nigeria tackle Argentina in an international friendly in Russia.
The last time the Chippa United goalkeeper was in goal was in Nigeria’s 2-0 defeat against South Africa in Uyo, Ikechukwu Ezenwa has kept in all of Super Eagles games since then but according to report the South-Africa based goalie is back in goal.
Various reports suggested that Gernot Rohr is set to experiment a new formation against Argentina. Nigeria will be playing with three defenders at the back with a recall for Chidozie Awaziem whose last game for Nigeria was also in the South Africa game.
Wtih Daniel Akpeyi in goal, Chidozie Awaziem, William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun in the defence, Sheu Abdullahi and Ola Aina as wingbacks, John Ogu, Wilfred Ndidi and Mikel Obi in the midfield while Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi playing upfront.
The starting XI:
Akpeyi; Troost-Ekong, Awaziem, Balogun; Shehu, Ndidi, Ogu, Mikel, Aina; Iwobi; Iheanacho.
The match between Nigeria and Argentina will kick off at 5:30pm West African time today (Tuesday)
