Akinyemi Adeleke out for several months after he fractures ankle in Norway league opener

Akinyemi Adeleke is set to miss several months of the new season in Norway after he fractured his ankle in a league opener Saturday just 35 minutes into the game.

The 20-year-old striker had to be operated on his left ankle while in action for IK Start against Aalesund.

IK Start sports director Tor-Kristian Karlsen confirmed the major injury setback.

Last season, IK Start splashed 800,000 Euros to snatch Adeleke from Latvian club Ventspils after his seven goals in the UEFA Europa League.

He scored three goals in 12 matches in the Norwegian top flight last year, but it was not enough to keep IK Start up in the top league.

In Latvia, he netted 20 goals in 21 appearances.
