Akpala shines as Oostende surrender two-goal lead to Agbo’s Standard Liège in loss

It would have been a perfect day for Oostende’s Joseph Akpala, after putting in the man of the match display in the first half, but Uche Agbo Standard de Liege ruined it.

After helping his side to an away victory against Simon Moses, Samuel Kalu and Anderson Esiti Gent last weekend, Joseph Akpala was close to winning another battle, but for his sides 22 minutes lost of focus.

Playing at the Versluys Arena in front of their fans against Standard Liège in their Belgian first division week 30 clash, Joseph Akpala quickly got involved.

Joseph Akpala set Fernando Canesin up in the 27th mi ute for the home sides first of the day, before he scored his goal in the 45th minute to give his side a 2-0 lead going in to the half time break.

The second half was going on as planned for Joseph Akpala and co until the 50th minute when Emond reduced Standard Liège defict to one and 15 minute after his goal, Djenepo equalised for the visitors.

Just 7 minutes after the equaliser Standard Liège comoketed their remarkable comeback win with a strike from Fai.

Super Eagles defender Uche Agbo was subbed on for Poku who assisted Standard Liège second goal in he 75th minute.

The former Granda man helped secure their 22 minutes remarkable comeback win preventing Jospeh Akpala and co from getti g anything from a game they nearly win.

Joseph Akpala who has now scored in each of his last two games was on the pitch for the entire duration of the match.
