Akpom scores 5th goal of the season for 5-star Ajax vs Vitesse

Super Eagles of Nigeria eligible striker, Chuba Akpom scored his 5th goal of the season as a 5-star Ajax performance floored Vitesse 5-0 on Saturday, November 25.

Akpom was named as the lone-striker in a 4-2-3-1 formation by Van Schip and justified his inclusion with a goal as Ajax flourished showing no mercy to visiting Vitesse in the Dutch Eredivise fixture.

Jorrel Hato, Kristian Hylnsson and a Alioz oroz own-goal gave Ajax a comfortable 3-0 lead with 50-minutes of action played.

Akpom extended the lead in the 58th minute for his fifth goal of the season and his teams 4th of the match.

This means, the Nigerian striker has now scored back-to-back games for Ajax in the Dutch top flight.

The 28-year-old has netted five goals in his last five games in all competitions for Ajax as revival continues for the former Dutch champions under Van Schip.

Kenneth Taylor scored the 5th goal in the 67th minute to complete the rout.

Chuba Akpom was taken off in the 68th minute for Georges Mikautadze.

That win takes Ajax up to eight place on 15 points in the Dutch top-flight league standings.

Akpom joined Ajax in the last transfer window from Middlesbrough where he excelled as the 2022/2023 top scorer in the English Championship with 28 goals in 40 games .
