Akwa Ibom State Football Association Congratulates Super Falcons on WAFCON Victory

The Akwa Ibom State Football Association has congratulated the Super Falcons of Nigeria following their impressive 3-2 win over Morocco in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The thrilling final, held at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, saw the Nigerian women’s team recover from two goals down to secure their 10th WAFCON title, further extending their dominance in African women’s football.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Football Association, Mr Samuel Umoh, praised the Super Falcons for their bravery, resilience and team spirit throughout the tournament. He said the victory was a true representation of the Nigerian spirit and a proud moment for the entire country.
“We are extremely proud of the Super Falcons for their incredible performance and winning spirit. Their comeback victory in the final is a clear reflection of the Nigerian fighting spirit. On behalf of the Akwa Ibom State Football Association, I say a big congratulations to the entire team, coaching crew and support staff for bringing joy and pride to the nation,” Mr Umoh said.
The Akwa Ibom FA Chairman also took the opportunity to commend the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, for his role in the team’s success. According to Mr Umoh, the Super Falcons’ triumph is a result of the NFF president’s strong commitment to developing football across the country.
“This triumph is a result of hard work and proper planning. I must commend Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau for his outstanding leadership of the NFF. His commitment to the growth of football in Nigeria is evident in this historic achievement by the Super Falcons. It is a well-deserved success and a moment of pride for us all,” he added.
