Akwa United Face Godswill Akpabio in Pre-Season Title Decider
The 2025 Akwa United/Akwa Ibom State Football Association Pre-Season Tournament will reach its climax on Friday, 29 August, at the Uyo Township Stadium, with a decisive clash between Akwa United FC and Godswill Akpabio United FC.
After four rounds of matches in the six-team competition, Godswill Akpabio United top the standings with 10 points, while Akwa United sit second with 8 points. The much-anticipated showdown between the two sides at 9am will determine the tournament winner. Akwa United, nicknamed the Promise Keepers, must win to lift the trophy, while a draw will be enough for Godswill Akpabio United to claim the crown.
The day’s action begins at 7am with third-placed P-Sports (6 points) facing Immortality FC, who are bottom of the table with just one point.
The final fixture of the competition comes at 11am when Covenant FC (4 points) take on Blackpool Football Academy in a match that will be played for pride, as neither side is in contention for the title.
