Akwa United Get Cash from State FA for Beating Enyimba

The leadership of the Akwa Ibom State Football Association rewarded Akwa United’s hard-fought 2-1 victory over Enyimba FC on Sunday with a financial boost of One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000) as a token of encouragement. The win, which came on matchday 23 of the Nigeria Premier Football League, marked an important milestone for the team.

Mr. Samuel Umoh, Chairman of the Akwa Ibom FA, made the donation on behalf of the association, explaining that the gesture was to appreciate the team’s performance and motivate them for future success.

“We, in the Football Association, are proud of your victory in today’s game,” Mr. Umoh said. “It’s a joy for us and all the fans who came out to support the team. Our role is to provide a positive environment for football here in Akwa Ibom, and we want to assure you that we are fully behind you. We will continue to support this team so that you can succeed this season and beyond.”

Acknowledging the team’s needs, Mr. Umoh said, “We understand that the team requires encouragement, support, and motivation. This is why we are presenting this token of One Hundred Thousand Naira to help fuel your progress. Keep up the excellent work, and we are confident you will finish the season strong.”

Team captain Jean Efala expressed his gratitude to the Football Association for the financial support, assuring the fans that Akwa United would not disappoint. “We appreciate this gesture and we promise to continue playing our best to bring more glory to the state and its football-loving people,” Efala said.

The victory over Enyimba was Akwa United’s first win in four league matches and their first in 2025. The Promise Keepers will next face Sunshine Stars on Saturday in Ikenne, as they look to build on their momentum.
