Akwa United lose Sani Suleiman to AS Trencin

Sani Suleiman has left Akwa United and will join Slovakian club AS Trencin, following a standout season in the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL).
The 17-year-old forward played a key role in Akwa United’s campaign during the 2023-2024 season, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists in just 15 league appearances.
His exceptional performance not only helped Akwa United avoid relegation but also earned him the NPFL Rookie of the Season award at the 2024 League Bloggers Award.

Suleiman’s impressive form caught the attention of AS Trencin, leading to a two-year contract with an option for a one-year extension.

The young forward had multiple suitors but it is Trencin that have won the race for his signature.

AS Trencin has a history of signing Nigerian players, including Moses Simon, Samuel Kalu, and Hilary Gong. Suleiman is set to travel to Slovakia soon to sign and officially join his new club.
