Akwa United Win Away to Boost Survival Hopes
Akwa United earned a vital 2-0 away win against Kwara United on Sunday, boosting their hopes of avoiding relegation in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
The match took place In Illorin, where Akwa United claimed their first away victory of the season. Goals from Kabir Osoba and Uche Sabastine sealed the important win for the Promise Keepers.
Kwara United’s technical adviser, Tunde Sanni, blamed his team’s defeat on missed chances.
“We should have won with the way we played in the first 20 minutes,” Sanni said after the match.
“My boys wasted too many scoring opportunities, and we paid for it.”
The result leaves Kwara United in 13th place on the league table, while Akwa United move up to 17th position with 34 points. The Uyo-based club will now focus on their next game, a midweek fixture against Niger Tornadoes in week 31 of the NPFL.
Akwa United will be hoping to continue their good form as they fight to stay in the top division.
