Al Ahly destroy Ighalo’s Al-Hilal to claim historic CWC Bronze medal
Become first club ever to three Club World Cup bronze medals
Al-Hilal were the second-best team from the start to finish as Pitso Mosimane Al Ahly secured a huge 4-0 win in the Club World Cup third-place match on Saturday.
Odion Ighalo and his Al-Hilal teammates were the favourites for this match after their 6-1 win in the quarterfinal against Al-Jazira and their narrow 1-0 loss to Chelsea in the semis.
But they were no match for the African Champions League champions who scored four unreplied goals against their opponents.
Yasser Ibrahim 8th minutes goal put Al Ahly up and their work was made a bit easier when Al-Hilal were reduced to 10-man when former West Brom forward Matheus Pereira was giving his marching orders in the 14th minute.
Yasser Ibrahim completed his brace in the 17th minute and again Al-Hilal had another player sent off in the 28th minute, Mohammed Kanoo this time the culprit.
Odion Ighalo who didn’t start the match could only look from the bench helpless as Al Ahly got their third in the 40th minute through Ahmed Abdelkader.
They got their 4th through Amro El Soulia to complete an easy third-place win at the Al Nahyan Stadium.
Al Ahly are the only club in history to win three Club World Cup bronze medals they achieved the feats in 2006, 2020, and 2021.
