Alcaraz and Sinner win in Monte Carlo as No. 1 Race Tightens

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner both opened with straight-set wins at the Monte Carlo Masters, keeping the race for world No. 1 close.

Alcaraz, the defending champion, beat Sebastián Báez 6-1, 6-3 in 69 minutes. The win extends his clay-court streak and keeps him on track as he looks to defend his title.

Sinner followed with a dominant 6-3, 6-0 win over Ugo Humbert. His form in Masters events continues to stand out as he builds momentum on clay.

Alcaraz has 1,000 points to defend this week, while Sinner is just 190 points behind.

What happens in Monte Carlo could decide who leaves as world No. 1.
