Alcaraz Jokes after Brother wins Hottie Coach Award
Alcaraz reacts as Brother Álvaro wins ‘Hottie Coach’ Award
World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz shared a lighthearted reaction after his older brother and coach Álvaro Alcaraz was voted “Hottie Coach of the Year” during the BNP Paribas Open.
The award was handed out by the Nothing Major Podcast, which is hosted by former ATP Tour players Sam Querrey, John Isner, Jack Sock, and Steve Johnson.
Fans voted through several rounds in a bracket-style contest before Álvaro emerged as the winner. In the final, he edged out former world No. 1 Marat Safin, now a coach, claiming 52% of the vote.
When asked about the result during a press conference, Carlos Alcaraz joked that he had been closely following the contest.
“Yes, of course I knew about it,” he said with a smile. “I was probably more nervous about that than my tournament here.”
He added that many players on tour had been watching the voting unfold.
“A lot of players were following the results. I’m happy that my brother won the Hottie Coach of the Year.”
While the award brought some fun to the Indian Wells tournament, Team Alcaraz remains focused on the bigger prize. Carlos is still competing for the men’s singles title at Indian Wells.
The Spaniard recently defeated Arthur Rinderknech in three sets and is set to face Casper Ruud in the next round.
Alcaraz has enjoyed strong success at Indian Wells, winning the tournament in 2023 and 2024, and is aiming for another title as his impressive start to the 2026 season continues.
