Alex Iwobi denies music as backup plan, stays focused on Football
Fulham and Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi has dismissed claims that his music career is a preparation for life after football. The former Arsenal forward made it clear that his music is simply a way to enjoy life and relax, not a replacement for his focus on football.
In an interview with Making of Champions, Iwobi addressed the speculation, saying:
“No, I am just living life. I don’t know if I am preparing for life after football, I am just living my life. So, people can say what they want.”
Music as a Hobby, Not a Distraction
Iwobi, who has gained attention in the music industry with tracks like “Don’t Shoot” and his latest release, “What’s Luv?”, stressed that football remains his top priority.
The 28-year-old midfielder explained that creating music helps him unwind but does not interfere with his commitment to improving on the pitch.
“Creating music doesn’t take anything away from my football. It helps me switch off. I will always work hard and try to improve in my sport, but this is a good use of my spare time,” he said in an earlier interview with BBC Sports.
Success in Music
Iwobi’s debut track “Don’t Shoot”, featuring fellow footballers Chuba Akpom and Medy Elito, received nearly 60,000 streams on Spotify. His latest song, “What’s Luv?”, showcases Afro-Swing and Rap and features his close friends and rising artists.
Despite his success in music, Iwobi remains dedicated to his football career, continuing to balance both passions without compromising his performance on the pitch.
