Alex Iwobi returns to Social Media after AFCON backlash
Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi has made a comeback to social media after a hiatus following backlash faced during the AFCON tournament.
The football star, who recently played a key role in Fulham FC’s victory against Manchester United, had taken a break from social media and deleted all his Instagram posts due to the mass criticism and hateful comments he received from football fans after Nigeria’s loss to Ivory Coast in the AFCON 2023 final.
Following the defeat, numerous Nigerians flooded the comment section of Iwobi’s social media platforms to express their disappointment with what they considered to be a “below par” performance during the final match of AFCON 2023.
The cyberbullying sparked outrage among Iwobi’s fellow Super Eagles teammates, who expressed their solidarity with him and condemned the behavior of the fans.
After being away from social media since February, Iwobi has now returned and shared a video on Instagram, giving his fans and followers a glimpse of what he has been up to in recent times. In the video, he also teased a snippet of what appears to be his unreleased rap song.
The comeback received an outpouring of love and support from several football stars and teammates, including William Troost Ekong, Frank Onyeka, and Kenneth Omeruo, who took to the comment section to show their support for Iwobi.
Iwobi’s unexpected musical revelation has piqued the interest of fans, and it is something to look out for in the coming days.
