Alex Iwobi reveals offield activity he has been doing since 14
Super Eagles of Nigeria and Fulham FC star Alex Iwobi has revealed his passion for music, which he has nurtured since he was 14 years old.
In a recent interview with The Cable, the 28-year-old Fulham midfielder shared that while his love for music is not widely known, he has been creating music privately for years.
“It’s only recently that I started showcasing my interest in music, but I’ve been doing it since I was 14,” Iwobi said. He explained that he has been involved in producing music behind the scenes and is now preparing to release some of his tracks, depending on when his media team feels it’s the right time.
Iwobi, who goes by the stage name ’17’, has already released a song this year titled Don’t Shoot, featuring fellow footballers Chuba Akpom and Medy Elito. He also released his debut single, Hate on Me, about a year ago, which included Aston Villa midfielder Amadou Onana, who performs under the name ’24AM’.
In addition to his music, Iwobi shared his favorite female Afrobeats artists, naming Tems as his top pick, followed by Tiwa Savage, Ayra Starr, Simi, and Yemi Alade.
Iwobi is expected to play a key role in Nigeria’s upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Libya on October 11, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. Despite the absence of star striker Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles are confident in their attacking options, with Victor Boniface set to lead the charge.
