Alex Iwobi reveals relationship with Super Eagles teammate Ola Aina
Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has talked about the close friendship he shares with fellow Super Eagles player, Ola Aina. Iwobi sees Aina as a brother, and their friendship has lasted over 18 years.
The two players, now part of Nigeria’s national team, first met as children and have grown up together. Their bond has seen them both represent Nigeria, with key roles in the Super Eagles’ journey to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final, where they were runners-up after losing to Côte d’Ivoire.
Iwobi explained, “We’ve come a long way. We went to the same primary and secondary school. I was in year five, and he was in year four. People say we are friends, but we are brothers.”
Iwobi made his Super Eagles debut in 2015, with Aina joining the team in 2017. Their friendship and teamwork have been important for Nigeria’s success.
