Alex Iwobi scores as Fulham fall to Wolves in a 4-1 defeat
Nigerian midfielder Alex Iwobi scored the opening goal as Fulham faced a tough loss against Wolves, falling 4-1 at Craven Cottage after the international break. The defeat ended Fulham’s hopes of securing three wins in a row under Marco Silva.
Fulham began the match confidently, taking an early lead. Alex Iwobi, who recently helped Nigeria qualify for the 2025 AFCON, scored a stunning goal. After receiving a pass from Kenny Tete, Iwobi curled the ball beautifully into the far corner.
Wolves quickly responded, with Mario Lemina setting up Matheus Cunha, who scored the equaliser with a clever finish past Bernd Leno.
In the second half, Wolves dominated. Joao Gomes gave the visitors the lead with a powerful shot, assisted by Cunha.
Cunha then scored his second of the night, curling a superb strike into the top corner, leaving Leno with no chance.
Substitute Goncalo Guedes added the final goal, sealing a comprehensive 4-1 victory for Wolves.
Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi, fresh from their international duties with Nigeria, featured in the starting lineup. Despite Iwobi’s brilliant goal, Fulham could not keep up with Wolves’ clinical finishing.
This result leaves Marco Silva’s team with plenty to work on as they aim to bounce back in their next Premier League fixture.
