Alex Iwobi scores as Fulham FC bow to Wolves

Nigerian midfielder Alex Iwobi scored a late goal at the Molineux as Fulham FC suffered a 2-1 defeat against Wolves in the Premier League. SportsRation reports.

Despite the Cottagers being 2-0 down, Alex Iwobi managed to score and halve the deficit, but it was not enough to salvage a point for Marco Silva’s men.

It was a disappointing outing for the Super Eagles duo Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey as Fulham’s winning streak came to an end with a 2-0 loss against Wolves at Molineux.

Starting for Marco Silva’s side, Iwobi and Bassey couldn’t prevent the second-half goals from Rayan Ait Nouri and a Tom Cairney own goal.

Iwobi showcased his dynamism in midfield, completing 79% of his passes, creating seven chances, and making six recoveries. Bassey displayed his defensive prowess, completing 89% of his passes, winning all his tackles, and making eight recoveries.

However, it was Ait Nouri’s 52nd-minute strike that broke the deadlock, followed by Cairney’s own goal 12 minutes later, sealing Fulham’s fate despite Iwobi’s late consolation goal.

The defeat comes after Fulham’s impressive victories against Manchester United and Brighton, where Iwobi and Bassey played key roles.

Although the loss is a setback, the consistent excellence of Iwobi and Bassey has been instrumental in Fulham’s commendable performance since returning from the AFCON in Ivory Coast.
