Alex Iwobi shines as Fulham secures 2-0 victory over Hoffenheim
Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi delivered a standout performance as Fulham concluded their pre-season with a 2-0 win against Hoffenheim in Germany.
In front of a crowd of over 9,000 fans, Iwobi demonstrated his creative flair, contributing significantly to both of Fulham’s goals.
The first half began quietly, but Iwobi sparked the game into life in the 33rd minute. His vision was evident as he executed a perfectly chipped pass through Hoffenheim’s defense to meet Emile Smith Rowe’s run. Smith Rowe finished with precision, sliding the ball past Hoffenheim’s goalkeeper, Oliver Baumann, from a tight angle.

Iwobi continued to influence the match as Fulham pressed forward. Early in the second half, a smart combination between Smith Rowe and Iwobi led to a powerful shot from Iwobi that Baumann managed to save, with Rodrigo Muniz unable to convert the rebound.
The 59th minute saw Iwobi assert his dominance further. After receiving the ball deep in Fulham’s half, he made a dynamic run before delivering a flawless diagonal pass to Adama Traoré. Traoré, supported by Iwobi’s precision, outmuscled his defender and calmly finished past the advancing Baumann to double Fulham’s lead.
Despite Hoffenheim’s efforts to equalize, including several crucial saves from Fulham’s goalkeeper Bernd Leno, it was Iwobi’s creativity that shone brightest. His performance will be a significant morale boost for Fulham as they prepare for their Premier League opener against Manchester United at Old Trafford next Friday.
