Alex Iwobi’s vision of a perfect midfielder is combination of Jay-Jay Okocha, Ozil, Kante, Kaka and Pirlo

Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi recently shared his vision of the perfect midfielder, incorporating qualities from some of the game’s greatest players, including his uncle, Austin Jay-Jay Okocha.

At a charity football event, Iwobi was asked by ESPN to build his ideal midfielder, and his selections have garnered praise from fans.

Iwobi’s choice to include the skills of Okocha is no surprise, given their familial connection and Okocha’s legendary status in football. Known for his dribbling wizardry and flair, Okocha’s ability to embarrass defenders with his tricks on the ball made him a standout player during his career, which included a notable stint at Paris Saint-Germain.

In addition to Okocha’s skills, Iwobi selected other attributes from a diverse array of football icons to complete his perfect midfielder. He chose the finishing prowess of Frank Lampard, who holds the record for the highest-scoring midfielder in Premier League history. Lampard’s ability to find the back of the net made him an obvious choice for this critical aspect of the game.

Iwobi also valued the passing ability of Mesut Özil, with whom he played during his time at Arsenal. Özil’s vision and precision in distributing the ball were instrumental in many of Arsenal’s attacking plays, making him an ideal candidate for this quality.

Furthermore, Iwobi picked the relentless work rate of N’Golo Kanté, whose tireless performances have earned him a reputation as one of the most hardworking players in football. Andrea Pirlo’s technique and skillful playmaking were also included, reflecting Pirlo’s status as a midfield maestro with exceptional control and creativity.

Finally, Iwobi selected the football IQ of Brazilian legend Kaká, known for his intelligent play and ability to read the game, making him a complete and strategic midfielder.

In contrast, Iwobi’s choices received widespread acclaim, especially when compared to the criticism faced by Nigerian legend Mikel Obi for his own attempt at building the ultimate midfielder. Fans appreciated Iwobi’s thoughtful and well-rounded selection, recognizing the influence and contributions of each player he chose to include.
