Alexander-Walker wins Most Improved Player Award

Nickeil Alexander-Walker has been named the 2025–26 NBA Most Improved Player.

The Atlanta Hawks guard receives the George Mikan Trophy after a significant jump in performance this season.

Alexander-Walker increased his scoring from 9.4 points per game last season to 20.8 this year, a rise of 11.4 points. That places him among a small group of players over the past few decades to make that level of jump while playing full seasons.

He also becomes part of a notable run for Atlanta. Following Dyson Daniels, the Hawks are now the first team to produce back-to-back winners of the award.

The voting was decided by a panel of 100 media members, and had Alexander-Walker finishing ahead of Jalen Duren and Deni Avdija.

The award recognises the player who has shown the most progress over the season, and this year, that recognition goes to Alexander-Walker after a clear step forward in his game.
