Algerian Club MC Oran Reacts to Chelle’s Appointment as Super Eagles Coach
There is some trouble following the announcement of Eric Chelle as the new Super Eagles coach. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is facing criticism from MC Oran, an Algerian club, because Chelle is still under contract with them.
Despite this, the NFF named Chelle as the new Super Eagles coach on Tuesday. This move has upset MC Oran, who feels that Chelle’s departure is a setback for their ongoing project.
Chelle reportedly attended training with MC Oran on Wednesday, but the club then held an emergency meeting to discuss the situation. They emphasized the need to protect the rights of both parties.
The club said, “This meeting will decide whether he stays or leaves, especially since he is still under contract.”
It appears that Chelle’s contract has a clause allowing him to leave if he is offered a national team job. The NFF’s offer triggered this clause, leading Chelle to accept the Super Eagles position.
The outcome of the meeting between Chelle and MC Oran is still unclear. Chelle could stay with the Algerian club if a solution is found, or he may leave if the contract clause is activated.
