All-Nigerian affair in Belgium as Genk defeat Anderlecht 2-1
Win takes Genk to within two points of leaders, Club Brugge
Nigeria’s strikers did the business as KRC Genk defeated Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht 2-1 in the Belgian Jupiler League playoffs on Saturday.
Red-hot striker, Paul Onuachu opened the scoring for KRC Genk in the 16th minute, scoring his 35th goal for the club this season as he continued his incredible goalscoring record. Anderlecht turned to 22 year old Manchester City loanee, Lukas Nmecha who was born in Germany to a Nigerian father as he equalised for them in the 31st minute. Onuachu was taken off by the Genk manager and replaced by Super Eagles striker, Cyriel Kolawole Dessers in the 76th minute. The Belgium-born striker scored the winner in the 86th minute for his 5th goal this season as Genk won 2-1.
The win by KRC Genk has put them only two points behind leaders, Club Brugge as they aim to win the Belgian Jupiler League.
