Alloy Agu reveals Nigerian goalkeeper who can reach Vincent Enyeama’s level
Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Alloy Agu believes Stanley Nwabali has the potential to achieve the same success as Vincent Enyeama in the national team.
Nwabali recently made history by keeping four consecutive clean sheets at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), breaking Agu’s record of three clean sheets and matching a 44-year-old record set by Best Ogedegbe.
Despite the Super Eagles losing the final 2-1 to hosts Ivory Coast, the Chippa United goalkeeper’s performances stood out, earning him praise for his composure and skill.
Agu highlighted Nwabali’s strong communication with the defence and his ability to make crucial saves. “Nwabali has done well for himself and the Super Eagles,” Agu said. “When you compare him to Vincent Enyeama, you see that both have represented the country with excellence. Nwabali has shown confidence and focus, but there’s still room for improvement.”
He added that with consistent hard work and concentration, Nwabali could reach Enyeama’s level. “It’s just a matter of time. He has what it takes to succeed if he keeps improving,” Agu told Complete Sports.
Nwabali’s achievements have solidified his reputation in the national team and raised hopes for a bright future in Nigerian football.
