Amorim Tells Fernandes He Is Not Leaving Manchester United
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has made it clear to Bruno Fernandes that he will not be leaving the club this summer.
The United captain, who signed a contract extension until 2027 last August, has been the team’s standout performer this season. Over the weekend, reports linked the 30-year-old with a move to Real Madrid, but Amorim dismissed the speculation.
Amorim’s Firm Message to Fernandes
Speaking ahead of United’s Premier League match against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, Amorim was asked about the rumours and responded firmly:
“No, it’s not going to happen.”
When pressed on how he could be so certain, he added with a smile:
“He’s not going anywhere because I’ve already told him.”
The Portuguese manager’s words carried a hint of amusement, but his message was clear—Fernandes remains an essential part of his plans.
Fernandes’ Importance to United
Fernandes has been United’s most influential player this season, scoring 16 goals across all competitions—no other United player has reached double figures.
Before the international break, he was in outstanding form, netting five goals in a week, including a hat-trick in the Europa League last-16 win over Real Sociedad.
In the Premier League, only Mohamed Salah (54) and Erling Haaland (33) have more combined goals and assists than Fernandes’ 31 this season.
United’s Struggles in the League
Despite Fernandes’ contributions, United have had a difficult campaign. They currently sit in 13th place as they prepare to face third-placed Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
With Amorim determined to keep Fernandes, United will hope their captain can help turn their season around.
