Amuneke reacts to NFF appointment as Super Eagles chief coach
Newly-appointed Super Eagles chief coach Emmanuel Amuneke has reacted to his appointment to serve the Nigeria senior national team.
The former Barcelona forward who recently debunked the news of the appointment saying no one has contacted me has changed his tone.
Emmanuel Amuneke while speaking Lagos-based Sports Radio Station, Brila FM thanked Nigerians for pushing for him to be a member of Austine Eguavoen’s coaching crew as the chief coach.
“As I usually say, I’ve had the privilege of serving Nigeria as a player and after my retirement when I ventured into coaching,” Said Amuneke to Lagos-based Sports Radio Station, Brila FM
“I have had the privilege of serving Nigeria as a coach at the youth level and today Nigerians who believed in me and what I’m doing have also clamoured for this (as Super Eagles coach).
“What can I say than to thank everybody and hopefully, God would give us the wisdom to do the right thing and what is right for our football to move forward.”
The first task ahead of the former Tanzania chief coach is to ensure Nigeria qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
To do that Nigeria must get an aggregate win against Ghana over two-leg games, the first to be in Cape Coast Stadium on Wednesday, 23rd March or Thursday, 24th March.
And the return leg to be played at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Sunday, 27th March,
