Amusan breezes through Heat, books place in 100m Hurdles semifinals
Nigerian hurdler one of the biggest medal hopes of Nigeria after Okagbare expulsion
Nigerian hurdles queen and Commonwealth gold medalist Tobi Amusan has booked her place in the semifinals of the women’s 100m hurdles event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics following a brilliant performance in her Heat at the event despite a slow start.
Amusa competed in Heat 3 of the event as she pursues her first ever Olympic medal, and she finished in a time of 12.72 seconds to win the Heat ahead of Jamaica’s Yanique Thompson, who finished in 12.74 seconds and Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska, who finished in 12.75 seconds. The three would be joined by Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton, who finished in fourth place in their Heat with a time of 12.84 seconds. The semifinals are due to take place on Sunday by 4:45 am Nigerian time.
