Ancelotti Replaces Vinicius Jr with Mbappe as Real Madrid’s Penalty Taker
Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has decided that Kylian Mbappe will now take the team’s penalties instead of Vinicius Jr.
According to Marca, this change comes after Vinicius missed a penalty in Real Madrid’s 2-1 loss to Valencia in La Liga last weekend.
The Brazilian forward had a chance to give his team an early lead, but his weak shot was easily saved by Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
It was Vinicius’ second missed penalty of the 2024/25 season. He also failed to score from the spot against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
Mbappe will now take the penalties, starting with Real Madrid’s next Champions League match against Arsenal.
The report also says that if Mbappe misses any penalties, the next player to take spot-kicks will be Jude Bellingham.
