Anderson, Williams out in Day Two of Australian Open

Bautista Agut, Andreescu sent packing

South Africa’s Kevin Anderson was knocked out of the 2021 Australian Open by Italian 9th seed, Matteo Berrettini, losing in straight sets 7-6 7-5 6-3 to exit the tournament in the first round.

Stefanos Tsitsipas advanced past Frenchman, Gilles Simon in straight sets 6-1 6-2 6-1 to progress to the second round of the Australian Open.

Romania’s Radu Albot stunned Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut 6-7 6-0 6-4 7-6 in four sets to progress to the second round of the tournament.

In the women’s event, Venus Williams got knocked out by Sara Errani in straight sets 6-1 6-0 to exit the tournament in the second round, while her sister, Serena Williams progressed to the third round after she beat Nina Stojanovic in straight sets 6-3 6-0 as she bids to claim the title.

Bianca Andreescu was stunned as unseeded Taiwanese, Hsieh Su-Wei defeated her in straight sets 6-3 6-2 in the second round of the tournament.

Women’s World number 1, Ashleigh Barry won 6-0 6-0 in straight sets against Danka Kovinic to qualify for the second round.
