Anthony Joshua beats Tyson Fury in latest WBC rankings
In a surprising update, Anthony Joshua has been rated higher than Tyson Fury in the latest World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight rankings. This comes after Fury’s split-decision loss to Oleksandr Usyk on May 18.
The WBC’s June heavyweight rankings now list Anthony Joshua as the number one contender, placing former champion Fury in the second spot. Despite his victory over Frank Sanchez, Agit Kabayel remains in third position.
The World Boxing Association (WBA), along with the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and International Boxing Federation (IBF), did not previously rank Fury because he held the WBC title.

However, the WBA has now placed the 35-year-old Fury at number four. Martin Bakole, whose best wins are over Tony Yoka and Carlos Takam, is rated higher, with Joshua second and Daniel Dubois third.
The IBF has Dubois as their interim champion following his win over Filip Hrgovic, who fought just two weeks after the Usyk-Fury match. The IBF ranks Fury sixth, with Jared Anderson fifth, Kabayel fourth, and Joshua third. Bakole is ranked 14th in the IBF’s list. The top two positions in their rankings remain vacant.
Other notable mentions include Cuba’s cruiserweight contender Mike Perez, who is ranked sixth by the WBA despite not fighting at heavyweight since 2015. The WBO is expected to publish its latest rankings soon.
