Aribo endures Frustrating EPL debut
Nigerian Midfielder Joe Aribo suffered a frustrating EPL debut as Southampton fell 4-1 to Tottenham Hotspur in their first game of the 2022/2023 season.
Southampton started the game in a 5-3-2 formation , Aribo playing in a forward role alongside Armstrong at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium In London.
It was Southampton who opened the scoring, saints skipper Ward-Prowse firing past Hugo Lloris in the 12th minute .
Antonio Conte tutored Tottenham Hotspur drew level through Ryan Sesssegon before Eric Dier added a second to hand Spurs a 2-1 lead at the break .
Joe Aribo cut a frustrated figure for most of the second half after having to lead Southampton’s attack with no supplies as Tottenham Hotspur dominated the game .
Aribo’s Ghanian teammate Salisu scored an own goal to gift Spurs a 3-1 lead before Kluveski scored the fourth goal to send Spurs top of the standings .
Joe Aribo and Southampton will return to action on August 13, when the saints face Leeds United at home .
