Arokodare Focused on Winning League Title with Genk Despite Recent Setbacks

Super Eagles and KRC Genk striker, Toluwalase Emmanuel Arokodare, says winning the Jupiler Pro League title remains his biggest goal this season, even though Genk have struggled in recent games.

The 24-year-old has been in fine form, scoring 22 goals and providing five assists in 41 matches across all competitions, attracting interest from clubs like Bayern Munich.

However, Genk’s title hopes have taken a hit, with the team winning just one of their last five matches. They are now third in the standings, three points behind leaders Union St. Gilloise.

Despite reaching personal milestones — including scoring the highest number of goals in a single season of his career and making his Super Eagles debut — Arokodare insists that winning the league is what matters most.

“It feels great, honestly. I try not to overthink it — my main focus is winning the title. Scoring 20 goals is fantastic, but the aim is to win the top prize with this club,” he said, speaking to Sports Boom.

“Winning the league would mean everything. This season, I’ve built a strong bond with the fans, and it would make me truly happy if we could reward them with the title.”

Arokodare was also asked about his future and admitted that playing in the Premier League is a dream he still holds.

“For the media noise, I just try to stay focused and keep a clear head. The future is unwritten, but like many players, it’s a dream of mine to one day play in the Premier League,” he added.

With four matches remaining, Genk still have a chance to lift the trophy if they win all their remaining games. Their next challenge is a crucial away match against table-toppers Union St. Gilloise at the Stade Joseph Mariën on Saturday.
