Arokodare Scores 20th Goal as Genk Win Derby Against Gent
Super Eagles and Genk striker Toluwalase Emmanuel Arokodare has reached a milestone, scoring his 20th goal of the season in his side’s 4-0 victory over Gent in the Belgian Pro League play-offs.
The 24-year-old forward is enjoying the best season of his career, which has earned him a call-up to the Nigerian national team. He even made his debut during the March international break.
On his return to club football, Arokodare helped Thorsten Fink’s side secure a dominant derby win.
A Tough Start, but a Perfect Finish
It was not an easy game for Arokodare, as he missed a penalty early in the match. Eight minutes after Jarne Steuckers failed to convert a spot-kick in the 15th minute, Arokodare had his own chance but sent his effort just wide.
However, he did not let that setback affect him. As the game progressed, Genk took control, and Arokodare eventually found the back of the net with a brilliant finish—his 20th goal of the season, a personal best in his career.
What’s Next for Genk?
Genk remain top of their play-off group, four points ahead of Club Brugge. Next, they face a tough test against Anderlecht as they continue their push for the title.
