Arsenal have been linked with many players ahead of the summer, the latest on the list is a midfielder who is likened to Jude Bellingham.
Recent reports show Arsenal are setting sights on Borussia Monchengladbach’s midfield dynamo, Manu Kone, as the Gunners gear up for potential summer signings to bolster their squad.
Edu and Mikel Arteta have been enjoying a successful season and are eyeing further reinforcements to strengthen their ranks. Kone, hailed as a “one-man army in midfield” and likened to Jude Bellingham, has emerged as a prime target for Arsenal’s midfield overhaul.
Reports suggest that Kone’s potential move to Arsenal may come at a lower cost than initially anticipated, making the deal even more enticing for the North London club.
French football expert Jonathan Johnson has weighed in on the speculation, confirming Arsenal’s interest in the 22-year-old Frenchman. According to Johnson, Kone’s name has been circulating among top European clubs, indicating widespread recognition of his talent and potential.
“Kone is a player of interest and is probably someone who will be on the move this summer,” he said of the talented midfielder.
“It’s something that’s been discussed now for quite a while as he seems to have outgrown Borussia Monchengladbach, while the club too probably need something of a more far-reaching transitional period than the one that we’ve already seen.
“So I don’t think it’s impossible that they’ll look to cash in on Kone and rebuild so they can become more than just a mid-table team as they are at the moment, and look to get back more towards the European places.
“It’s not the first time Kone has been on the radar of several top clubs, but I’d say it’s more likely he’ll move this summer than in previous years.
“It also seems likely that the under-performance of Gladbach this year probably also means Kone’s asking price won’t be quite as daunting as it has been in the past to the teams who’ve looked at him before.”
Kone’s departure from Borussia Monchengladbach appears increasingly likely this summer, with the club’s underperformance and the player’s desire for a new challenge contributing to the speculation surrounding his future.
Despite his young age, Kone has already made a significant impact in the Bundesliga, demonstrating his physical prowess, agility, and relentless work ethic on the pitch. His style of play has drawn comparisons to Bellingham, further enhancing his reputation as one of the most promising midfield talents in European football.
‘Physically imposing, quick, agile and a tireless worker, comparisons between Kone and Bellingham are inevitable,’ a post on the Bundesliga website conveyed in 2023.
‘Gladbach’s midfield dynamo was even fifth in a Bundesliga top five headed by the former Borussia Dortmund ace for challenges won in 2022/23.
‘He was also his team’s second best passer across the campaign (87.91 percent success rate), as well as the division’s joint-most-fouled player along with Jonas Hector.’
Having captained France’s Under-21s and impressed with his performances for Borussia Monchengladbach, Kone represents a valuable addition to any top club’s midfield.
As Arsenal looks to reinforce their squad for the challenges ahead, the potential acquisition of Kone could prove to be a significant step in their quest for success.
