Australia score most runs they ever have against West Indies in one day
Australia have scored the most runs that they ever have against the West Indies in a day by ending day one of the first Test 438-3 in Hobart.
The tourists had a poor day with the ball, but it was a different story for the Aussies at the crease as Adam Voges and Shaun Marsh ended the day unbeaten on 174 and 139 respectively.
The first wicket fell inside the 11th over when opening batsman Joe Burns was bowled out for 33 by Shannon Gabriel. The blow did not affect the hosts, however, as David Warner and Steven Smith took the team past 100 runs, but individually they did not earn their best figures.
Jomel Warrican was the man to dismiss both as he first took out Smith for 10 and followed that up four overs later to send Warner packing for 64. Despite taking out some key batsmen, Voges and Marsh managed to take control of the attack by putting Australia beyond the 400-run mark before stumps.
