Kano Pillars midfielder, Auwalu Ali Malam scored his 15th career NPFL goal to help Kano Pillars secure a rare away 1-0 victory over FC Ifeanyi Ubah. The midfielder was felled outside the box and he picked himself up to tuck away the resulting freekick, albeit with the aid of a deflection from the wall in the 23rd minute of the encounter. The result ensures that Pillars enter into the league’s top 4 for the first time this season, while FC Ifeanyi Ubah remain deeply in relegation trouble in 18th.
Rivers United picked up a vital 2-0 win over Nasarawa United at their Adokiye Amiesimaka home ground. Malachi Ohawume scored a rebound after his lob over the keeper came off the crossbar to give Rivers a 7th minute lead, before Nelson Esor scored for a second game running in the 73rd minute to make the points safe for the Pride of Rivers.
