Awaziem fires Hadjuk Split to victory over Rijeka

Chidozie Awaziem scored the winner to hand Hadjuk Split a 1-0 win over Rijeka in the Crotian top flight on Sunday evening .

In the 51st minute, the Nigerian defender finished off a Mikanovic assist to win the Adriatic derby for Split in front of the Rijeka supporters .

Awaziem joined Hadjuk Split on loan in the Summer transfer window from Portuguese side Boavista .

The Super Eagle has featured 7 times for Split this term and has scored two goals already , a significant return for a defender .

Hadjuk Split are second on the standings with 20 points from 10 games to trail table toppers Dinamo Zagreb who have garnered 31 points from 11 matches this season .

Awaziem’s Nigerian teammate Emem Eduok was not in the team for the game and is yet to get minutes for Split this season.

Last week  , Awaziem was on International duty with the Super Eagles of Nigeria as Algeria secured a 2-1 win over the West African giants in Oran .
