Awoniyi battles Lewandowski, Haaland, Nkuku, Schick, and 5 others for a spot in Bundesliga Team of the Season

Taiwo Awoniyi has been nominated alongside nine other players for a spot in the German Bundesliga team of the 2021/22 season.

The Super Eagles striker who has scored 13 league goals for Union Berlin this season will have to beat some of the best in world football to a spot on the three spaces reserved for the attackers.

Taiwo Awoniyi battles the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Erling Haaland, Christopher Nkuku, Patrik Schick, Anthony Modeste, Jonathan Burkardt, Jonas Hofmann, Andrej Kramarić, and Jesper Lindstrøm.

The Nigerian striker is currently joint 6th top scorer in the Bundesliga with only Robert Lewandowski (33), Patrik Schick (21), Erling Haaland (18), Christopher Nkunku (17), and Anthony Modeste (17) ahead of him.

All five players ahead of him are also in contention for a spot in the three spaces reserved for the attackers in the starting XI.
