Awoniyi makes first comments after firing Nottingham Forest to safety

Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi has taken to his Twitter handle with his first comments since firing Nottingham Forest to safety in the English Premier League.

In a tweet on his handle @taiwoawoniyi18, the striker thanked God for a successful season plus messages of appreciation for Forest fans after a fairytale end to the season.

Having therefore obtained the help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great,” Awoniyi wrote

“Once a dream, dream it and believe for he makes all things possible. What incredible support Nottingham Forest FC throughout the season. I love you Reds. ”

Awoniyi became Nottingham Forest first signing of the summer when he joined from German Bundesliga club Union Berlin.

The 26-year old scored 10 goals in his debut English Premier League season, a significant part coming towards the end of the campaign to rescue Steve Copper’s men from relegation.

Six goals in the last-4 games meant Awoniyi finished the season as a hero at the City Ground, one whose services the club will look to retain ahead of the 2023/2024 season.

With the season done, attention will turn to the International scene where Super Eagles manager may hand the forward a call-up for the AFCON qualifiers vs Sierra Leone.
