Azango, Akinyemi on target as 18 other Nigerian players play part in Europa League qualifying round two games
There were 20 Nigerian players in action across Europe during the second leg of the Europa League qualifying round two matches played on Thursday.
While Philip Azango and Akinyemi Adeleke were the only two on target the other 18 players played key roles to what their clubs achieved over two legs in the second qualifying rounds.
Here are the breakdown of how they all faired.
Trencin 4 Górnik Zabrze 1
Philip Azango scored and assisted a goal as Slovakia champions Trencin trashed Polish side Górnik Zabrze 4-1 at the Štadión Spartaka Myjava in the second leg of their Europa League second round qualifying match on Thursday.
There were three other Nigerians in action for Trencin on Thursday, right back Reuben Yem, midfielder Abdul Zubairu and attacker Emeka Umeh.
Reuben Yem and Abdul Zubairu started and played for the entire game, Emeka Umeh was a second half substitute while Philip Azango was subbed off in the 86th minutes.
Bordaux 2 Ventspils 1
Nigerian striker Akinyemi Adeleke and two other Nigerian players have crashed out of the 2018-19 Europa League in the second round after a 2-1 away loss and 3-1 defeat on aggregate.
All three players started the game, only Akinyemi Adeleke and Aiyegun Tosin played the entire duration, Abdullahi Alfa was withdrawn in the 74th minutes.
Ujpest 1 Sevilla 3
Obinna Nwobodo was on for the entire match as Ujpest suffered a 3-1 loss against Sevilla to crash out in the second round of Europa League qualifying round on 7-1 aggregate.
Radnicki Nis 2 Maccabi Tel Aviv 2
Chico Ofeodu was introduced in the second half for the Isreali giants as they secured a 2-2 draw in the second leg of their second round qualifying match to qualify for the third round on 4-2 aggregate.
Laci 0 Molde 2
Daniel Chima Chukwu and Leke James were in action for Molde as they booked their ticket for the Europa League qualifying round three on 5-0 aggregate.
Leke James who scored in his first ever game in Molde’s colour in their 3-0 win in the first leg against Laci came in for his compatriot Daniel Chima Chukwu in the 60th minutes but fired blank.
Lillestrom 1 LASK Linz 2
Ifeanyi Matthew played the entire the duration of the game for Lillestrom while Yusuf Otubajo played for just 17 minutes for Linz.
Ifeanyi Matthew gave rock solid in the middle of the pack but couldn’t do it alone as Otubajo’s Linz qualified for the next round on 6-1 aggregate.
Niedercorn 2 Honved 0
Uzoma Eke’s Honved crashed out of the Europa League qualifying round on Thursday after suffering a 2-0 loss to Niedercorn to render their 1-0 home win inconsequential.
The leftback was on till 87th minutes when he was subbed off for an attacker while his side chased an away goal that will put them them into the next round.
Vikingur 0 Torpedo Kutaisi 4
Lawal Adeshina playd for 90 minutes but failed to find the back of the net as his side suffered a 4-0 home loss and 7-0 on aggregate to crash out of the Europa League qualifeirs in round two.
Vitesse 3 Viitorul 1
Hillary Gong came in from the bench to help the Dutch club Vitesse to a 3-1 win in th Europa League qualifying round two second leg atch played on Thursday.
Hillary Gong played his part as Vitesse qualified with ease on a 5-3 aggregate.
Domzale 1 UFA 1
Sly and Kehinde Fatai led the line for Russian club UFA as tge secure their ticket into the next qualifying round deapite playing a 1-1 draw because of an away goal rule.
Sly was on for the entire duration of th gae but Kehinde Fatai was subbed of in the 69th minutes.

Fred Friday effort not enough as Alkmaar crashed out despite winning 2-1. The away goal scored by the visitors rendered the result ordinary.
