BAL 2024: Rivers Hoopers beat Cape Town Tigers, clinch bronze medal

Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers ended their journey in the 2024 African Basketball League (BAL) on a high note, securing the bronze medal with a decisive victory over Cape Town Tigers.

Rivers Hoopers began their playoff campaign with a strong performance, defeating the former champions, US Monastir, to advance to the semi-finals. Despite a narrow loss to Al Ahly Ly of Libya in the semi-finals, the team remained determined as they faced Cape Town Tigers in the bronze medal match.

The game, held at BK Arena on Friday night, saw the Hoopers take an early lead, dominating the first half with a score of 43-29. They continued their strong performance into the third quarter, maintaining control of the game and ultimately securing an 80-57 victory to claim third place.

Due to the impressive performance of Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers in the 2024 African Basketball League, coach Ogoh Odaudu was voted Coach of the Year.

The Rivers Hoopers’ impressive performance in the bronze medal game ensured they did not leave the tournament empty-handed, bringing pride to their fans and securing their place among the top teams in the Basketball Africa League.
