Barcelona Delay Return to Camp Nou After Renovations

Barcelona have confirmed that their return to Camp Nou has been delayed, after more than two years away from the stadium due to major renovation work.
The Spanish champions had hoped to be back in their famous home ground earlier than expected, after playing their home games at the city’s Olympic Stadium. They also planned to reopen Camp Nou with a special event, inviting club legend Lionel Messi. But those plans are now on hold.
On 25th June, Barcelona announced they would return to Camp Nou on 10th August for the traditional Joan Gamper Trophy match. However, this will no longer happen as planned. According to Sportal, the necessary work and approvals from the city are not yet finished, so the stadium isn’t ready for fans.
Barcelona say they are working closely with local authorities and the city council to speed things up, and they will update supporters when there’s news.
The club also made it clear that this delay will not impact any repayments linked to the renovation project.
For now, the Joan Gamper Trophy match will be played at their training ground’s main pitch, the Johan Cruyff Stadium.
