Barcelona earn 2 points from 4 La Liga games after failing to beat 10-man Alaves

Now 8 points behind Real Madrid

Barcelona have failed to beat 10-man Deportivo Alaves in a La Liga game at Estadio Mendizorroza after playing a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

The Catalan giants who went into the game against Alaves on the back of a 3-1 defeat against Real Madrid in the El Clasico and with just one point from three games failed to win again.

It was the home side who took the lead through Luis Rioja who capitalised on a mixed up between Neto who was in goal for Barcelona and Gerard Pique.

Ansu Fati was the best Barcelona player on the pitch for the most part of the game as Lionel Messi wasn’t at his best on the night.

After Alaves were reduced to 10 man in the 62nd minute when Jota got his second yellow for an infringement against Gerard Pique, Barcelona got an equaliser.

Antione Griezmann scored the equaliser just a minute after the red card but Barcelona failed to find the equaliser.

The Catalan giants were almost not going to get the equaliser after a tactical blunder from Ronald Koeman who pulled out Ansu Fati who was by far Barcelona biggest threat in the attack for Martin Braithwaite in the 78th minute.

With the 1-1 result, this means Barcelona are without a win in their last four La Liga games, and are eight points behind Real Madrid having accrued just two points from their last four games.

They currently sit in 12th place.
