Barcelona legend Hristo Stoichkov believes 17-year-old Lamine Yamal deserves to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or. Stoichkov, who won the award in 1994, praised Yamal’s talent and said, “If he wins it, I’ll give it to him personally.”
Yamal has had an amazing season with Barcelona, helping the team win La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. If he wins the Ballon d’Or in September, he will be the youngest player ever to win the award, beating the record set by Ronaldo at age 21 in 1997.
But the young star faces tough competition from PSG players Marquinhos, Vitinha, and Ousmane Dembélé, as well as from his Barcelona teammate Raphinha.
Stoichkov spoke about Yamal on Carrusel Deportivo, saying the teenager still has a lot to learn but already shows special talent that is fun to watch.
With the Ballon d’Or ceremony coming up in September, Yamal’s performances after the summer could be key to winning football’s biggest individual prize.
