Barcelona, Villareal battle to sign Nigeria National League star

Spanish La Liga giants FC Barcelona and Villareal will battle for the signature of Nigeria National League teenage sensation Ibrahim Afolabi Oseni.

This is according to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo who say FC Barcelona want to sign Oseni after already completing the signing of the young Senegalese defender Mikayil Faye (18 years old), from  NK Kustosija Zagreb in the Croatian second division.

Barça have identified Oseni as another top African talent to further strengthen their Youth teams

17-year old Ibrahim Afolabi Oseni had undergone trials in Spain before returning to complete the Nigeria National League season for Joy Cometh FC.

The teenager did confirm his multiple European trials back in February “I’ve been to many clubs in Spain and Ukraine for trials and I’m back home for one reason or another. I’ll be back soon but while I’m in the country, I want to train with my childhood club,”

Amongst the clubs the youngster trialed are with Levante , Leganés , Sabadell and in the Ukrainian Dnipro .

 Villareal will rival Barcelona for his signature. his close links to having trained with the Barça Academy in Lagos state, may play a part in jus eventual choice.

Oseni plays a midfielder but is capable of operating from the flanks, a system favourable at Barcelona and Villareal.

The youngster is expected to hit Spain for talks and tests before a decision is made.
