Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal Seeks More Help for Ongoing Groin Injury
Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has visited outside doctors for further checks on his groin injury, which has been troubling him for more than a month.
The 18-year-old first suffered the problem in early September and has been following a conservative treatment plan. However, as he still feels pain, Yamal decided to get a second opinion from other medical experts to see if his recovery is on track.
There have also been talks about possible surgery, but for now, Yamal has chosen to continue with non-surgical treatment and will review the situation again in a few weeks.
How the Injury Has Affected His Game
Yamal picked up the injury while playing for Spain during the September 2025 international break. Barcelona confirmed the issue when he returned to the club.
He missed four matches before coming back for the LaLiga game against Real Sociedad on 26 September and later played a full 90 minutes against PSG in the Champions League.
Unfortunately, the pain returned soon after. On 3 October, Barcelona ruled him out for two to three weeks, forcing him to miss games against Sevilla and Spain’s World Cup qualifiers.
Although Yamal has since played against Girona, Olympiacos, and Real Madrid in El Clásico, he has not looked fully fit. His groin issue still seems to affect his performance.
According to Cadena Ser, before the injury, Yamal averaged around 11 dribbles and nearly 7 shots per game. Since returning, those numbers have dropped to about 9 dribbles and fewer than 4 shots per match.
The club and player will continue to monitor his recovery closely in the coming weeks.
