Bassey Backs Fulham’s European Push Ahead of Crucial Burnley Clash

Calvin Bassey has expressed strong belief that Fulham can still secure European football this season, despite their recent struggles in form.

The Nigerian defender urged his teammates to remain focused and united as they push for what would be a historic milestone for the club. Fulham currently sit 11th in the Premier League standings, but the race for European spots remains tight, with only a few points separating them from the top seven positions that could guarantee continental qualification.

Several clubs, including Brentford, Bournemouth, Newcastle United and Everton, are also in contention, making the battle highly competitive as the season enters its final stretch.

Despite going three matches without a win in all competitions and crashing out of the FA Cup, Bassey remains optimistic. He believes the team’s current position still gives them a realistic shot, especially with several games left to play and only a narrow gap to close.

Fulham will aim to convert that belief into results when they host Burnley at Craven Cottage. The encounter carries high stakes for both sides. While Fulham are targeting a European finish, Burnley are battling to avoid relegation and remain in the top flight.

Fulham will take confidence from their earlier 3-2 win in the reverse fixture and will be hoping to complete a league double over Burnley for the first time in decades. Their recent record against newly promoted sides is also encouraging, although their lack of goals in recent league matches remains a concern.

Burnley, however, have enjoyed some success on their visits to Fulham in recent years, winning three of their last four away meetings. Still, their overall form has been poor, with just one win in their last 21 league games and a fragile defensive record on the road.

With both teams chasing very different objectives, the clash promises to be a tense and decisive encounter, where every point could prove vital in shaping their respective seasons.
