Bassey sees red as Fulham hold Arsenal FC in the Premier League
Calvin Bassey was shown a red card and sent off as Fulham held Arsenal FC to a 2-2 draw in a 2023/2024 English Premier League matchday three clash.
The game on Saturday August 26 was Calvin Bassey’s first start for Fulham FC , the Nigerian International will be disappointed to see red after what was a good performance at the Emirates Stadium.
Just like his first start for former club Ajax, Bassey received the marching order after a second caution in the 83rd minute of the match in London.
In the match, Fulham struck gold in 57 seconds when Andreas Pereira pounced on a loose back pass from Bukayo Saka.
The midfielder saw goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale well off his line, pulling the trigger from 30 yards out to score and silence the home crowd.
Arsenal restored parity from the penalty spot, Bukayo Saka stepping up to score in the second half.
Arsenal won a penalty for a foul on Fabio Vieira after the hour-mark and Saka redeemed himself with a confident spot kick in the pouring rain.
Arsenal made it 2-1 two minutes later when Vieira whipped in a cross for Eddie Nketiah to score.
The game got tough for Fulham when they were reduced to 10 men in the 83rd minute.
Calvin Bassey received a second booking for a cynical foul on Nketiah to prevent a counter-attack.
Despite the man disadvantage, Fulham equalised in the 87th minute when Joao Palhinha swept home from a corner to rescue a point.
